Oct. 2, 1:41 a.m.: A Safety and Security officer responded to a loud music complaint on Union Street. When the loud music resumed a short time later, the original complainant reported he contacted and then was confronted by the students from the residence. The incident is under investigation.

Oct. 2, 1:57 p.m.: A Safety and Security officer reponded to a staff member who reported the loss of a phone and rice cooker from the office in Dascomb Kitchen. The items, valued at $155.00 were observed missing between September 27th and September 29th.

Oct. 3, 12:13 p.m.: A Safety and Security officer responded to a report of a staff member having a seizure at Dascomb kitchen. The staff member was transported by ambulance to Allen Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Oct. 3, 12:10 p.m.: A Safety and Security officer responded to a report by a student that his bicycle, which was placed in Noah storage in May, 2002, was missing. The bike, a Trek 8000, neon green with blue/purple handlebars, was valued at $500.00. The bicycle was registered and locked to a post in the storage area. The matter was referred to Oberlin Police.

Oct. 4, 4:02 p.m.: A Safety and Security officer responded to a report of students consuming alcohol in a Mudd scholar studies room. The students involved were identified and the alcohol confiscated. The matter was referred to the judicial coordinator for consideration of charges.

Oct. 4, 7:35 p.m.: A Safety and Security officer responded to a report of an injured student at Harkness. The student said she sustained several lacerations when she purposely slammed her body into a window in Dascomb lounge, and the window broke. The student was transported to Allen Medical Center where she was treated and released. The broken window was secured by a maintenance tech. Matter referred to Residential Life for follow-up.

Oct. 4, 8:45 p.m.: A Safety and Security officer responded to a report of the odor of marijuana in the Burton basement smoking lounge. The responsible student and his guest were identified, and a pipe was confiscated and transported to the Security Office.

Oct. 5, 12:10 a.m.: Officers were requested to assist a student, possibly ill from alcohol consumption, in the women’s restroom at Finney Chapel. The student was assisted by her friend, back to her room in Barrows Hall. The R.A. was also notified and advised to make periodic checks.

Oct. 5, 9:46 a.m.: Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Kade. It was learned students were making pancakes in the first floor kitchenette. Hot grease in the frying pan began to smoke, activating the alarm. The alarm was reset with no further problems.

Oct. 5, 10:00 a.m.: A staff member reported the theft of two red velvet roping sections from the Science Center main lounge. The roping was valued at $80.00 each.

Oct. 5, 1:25 p.m.: A resident of Noah Hall reported the possibility of someone in her room. Officers responded and the room was checked. All possession were found to be intact and no one was in the room.

Oct. 5, 7:35 p.m.: A bicycle/car accident was reported on Woodland Street near the Science Center. Officers, Allen Medical Center EMS and Oberlin Police Department units responded. The student, riding a bicycle out of the Science Center area on to Woodland Street, struck a moving vehicle. The student was transported to Oberlin Medical Center for treatment.

Oct. 6, 1:03 a.m.: An officer was requested to assist an ill student, from alcohol consumption, on Woodland Street. The student was transported to Oberlin Medical Center for treatment.
Oct. 6, 1:50 a.m.: A resident of Langston Hall reported the restrooms on the first floor a mess. An officer responded and observed vomit and broken glass from a beer bottle on the floor. A work order was filed for clean up.

Oct. 6, 11:31 a.m.: An officer responded to Harkness to assist a student who cut her finger while slicing avacados. The student was transported to Oberlin Medical Center for treatment.

Oct. 6, 4:00 p.m.: Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Asia House. It was learned that food was burned, activating the detector. The alarm was reset with no further problems.

Oct. 6, 12:48p.m.: A student reported graffiti on the swing, grill and trash dumpster outside the Bike Co-op. Profanity was sprayed in white paint. A work order was filed for clean up.

Oct. 6, 11:51 a.m.: Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Burton Hall, first floor. The cause of the alarm was a malfunctioning detector.

Oct. 7, 12:10 p.m.: A student reported individuals soliciting in Wilder Bowl. Officers responded, located and identified the subjects who advised they were spreading the word of their religion through books they offer. The subjects were advised of Oberlin College policies and chose to leave campus.

Oct. 8, 7:45 a.m.: An employee of Wilder Hall reported someone broke into the Atari video game and took and undetermined amount of change.
Incident is under investigation.
Oct. 8, 12:20 p.m.: A resident of Dascomb Hall reported receiving annoying phone calls. The calls are received in the afternoon and no one is on the line. The student was advised to keep a log of all incoming calls and if they continue the Oberlin Police Department would be contacted.

Oct. 8, 12:00 p.m.: A student reported the theft of his bicycle from the east bike rack at Saunders. The bike is a Specialized Ground Control 2, 21 speed, red in color, valued at $300.00. The bicycle was registered with the City.

Oct. 8, 3:57 p.m.: A staff member at the Conservatory requested assist for a prospective student who passed out. Officers responded and the prospective was transported to Oberlin Medical Center for treatment.

Oct. 8, 11:23 p.m.: A student reported a bicycle/motor vehicle accident he was involved in at approximately 4:07 p.m. on Monday, October 7th. The student advised by female driving a red sports car at the intersection of Hall Auditorium and Tappan Square. Medical treatment was declined at this time. Anyone witnessing and/or having information about the accident is asked to contact the Safety and Security Office at 775-8444

Oct. 9, 2:19 a.m.: An officer on patrol observed three individuals smoking marijuana on the north side of Fairchild. Two of the individuals were identified as Oberlin College students and the third an Oberlin resident. The marijuana and pipe were confiscated and transported to the Security Office as evidence.
