Festival of Lights "Just wait until Illumination--it's incredible." As a newcomer to Oberlin College, these words--or comparable--were uttered to me dozens of times prior to and during Reunion-Commencement Weekend. At 8:30 on Sunday evening, with husband in tow, I strolled toward the growing crowd on Tappan Square. It was magical. The twinkling lights and their colors, so difficult to capture in photographs, transformed Tappan Square into a fairylike plaza. Munching on popcorn and homemade apple pie, we made our way through the throngs of alumni, seniors, parents, and townspeople enjoying the spirited tunes of the Commencement Band. KV |
