Interview with Denise Cash

1. What were the classes offered at school?

They had the same classes you have. English, Math, Social Studies, Sciene, Art, and Gym.

2. Were there sports teams?

We did not have sports teams

3. How did you get to school?

We walked. I either walked or walked to Eastwood and caught the bus.

4. What kinds of equiptment were in the classroom?

We had pencils, papers and chairs.

5. What did the students and teachers wear to school?

We wore the same things you all wear, but we pulled up our pants.

6. What did students do for lunch?

We ate the same thing you all eat.

7. What did you do for fun?

We had fun. We played kick ball, catch, stuff like that. Our parents had to beg us to come in. Redlight, Greenlight, frisbee...

8. Can you tell me about what your school day was like?

Back then the gym was in the basement, and we had to go up and down the stairs to different classes. The home ec was where the Board of Education and we had to go outside to get to it.
