RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Masters Research, UC Davis, (9/97-6/98)
Researched a local 4th grade
Spanish-immersion program to assess the attitudes and motivations of the
students, teachers, parents, and administrators. Collected teaching ideas
to improve the amount of comprehensible output to be produced by
the students, in order to enhance their overall linguistic performance
and encourage more balanced Bilingualism.

PRESENTATIONS
CATESOL Conference (2/28/98) Attitudes
and Motivations of Parents, Teachers, and Administrators of a Spanish-Immersion
Program at an Area Elementary School. Presented motivational ideas to
enhance foreign language learning. It is interesting to understand the
attitudes toward language learning of participants in foreign language programs
in the US, where learning a second language has not tended to be valued.
My Education
1998 MA Applied Linguistics --
University of California at Davis
Emphasis in TESOL (ESL), Bilingual Education,
& Raising Children Tri-lingually
1997 MA Spanish Linguistics -- University of California at Davis

Additional Education
Studied abroad in Alcalá de Henares,
Spain for one school year, after which I studied in Mexico City for two months
and then I did field research for an additional two months on the bilingual
educational system in Oaxaca, Mexico.
Language Experience
English is my native language.
I speak, read and write Spanish. I lived and worked in Holland for over
a year, so I can fluently understand Dutch and in most cases make myself
understood as well. Additionally, I have studied French, German, and Italian
formally and each for enough time to be able to read simple texts.
