Enthusiastic and dedicated students are welcome in the lab, provided space is available. Students typically work for credit during the school year and for a salary over the summer. Honors projects are considered after a student has gained some experience working on one of my research project. If you like what you see on the webpage, please speak to me: Maureen.Peters(at)oberlin.edu.
Lois Immerman is a 4th year Biology Major who hails from Big Flats, NY. Lois became enchanted with the worms while a student in Genetics 310 in Spring 2009. She joined the lab the following summer to work on the RNAi screen.
Matthew Miller is a 4th year Biology Major. He is originally from New Orleans, LA, but now resides in Sylva, North Carolina. Matt decided to keep working with worms after having fun in Genetics 310 last spring.
Latarsha Porcher is a 4th year Biology Major. She calls Awendaw, SC her hometown. Like many of the current lab members she too is a recent graduate of Genetics 310 Spring 2010. It seems that the worms were particularly charming last spring.
Monica Raible is a 2nd year Biology Major who traveled south from Sheffield, OH to attend Oberlin College. During her first year she worked with Taylor Allen so she comes to our lab with mad worm pickin’ prowess.
Andy Burns, M.A., is the Peters’ lab technician. He joined the lab in Spring 2009. He is funded by Prof. Peters’ NSF-RUI grant. Andy has been working in scientific research labs on a variety of plant and animals based projects for over thirty years. Yet, he had not had the pleasure of working with C. elegans until 2009. Now he is proud to call himself a worm person.
