Architects from DesignGroup met with Facilities Operations staff, Academic Commons committee members, and Circulation Department staff members at a full day of meetings on Tuesday, October 3rd. There were wide-ranging discussions of the architects' preliminary designs and how well they incorporate programmatic ideas brought forth so far in our planning.
At their meeting on March 3, the Oberlin College Trustees approved construction of the Academic Commons on the Main Level of Mudd Center. See the Library Perspectives for a full description of the project.
Removal of all furniture on Main level begins; staff moves to alternate locations in Mudd.
Necessary demolition begins; Mudd Center closes.
Mudd Center reopens; circulation services relocated to A-Level; access to main level limited to Administrative offices, photocopiers and technical services offices.
Construction complete; furniture and computer deliveries begin.
Academic Commons opens!
The Academic Commons officially renamed in honor of outgoing Oberlin College Board of Trustees Chair Robert Lemle '76 and his wife, Roni Kohen-Lemle '76, at a dedication ceremony held in the Academic Commons
