Discontinued SAST hotline

To the Editors:

We are writing on behalf of the Sexual Assault Support Team, and would like to inform the campus community of changes in the services offered by SAST. We are no longer able to offer the SAST hotline.

For a long time the hotline has only been an accessible resource to some students, primarily white straight women. It is imperative to confront the racism of SAST and we must interrupt our services in order to build resources that are accessible to everyone.

We remain committed to educating and organizing against sexualized violence, and in order to do this we are working to create resources that are anti-racist and competent to address the many different ways sexualized violence is experienced by people based on their identity, sexuality and experiences.

Below is a list of some other resources available:

Nord Rape Crisis – 24 hour hotline: 1-800-888-6161.

The Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) —
1-800-656-HOPE.

National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or TTY 1-800-787-3224.

Cleveland Rape Crisis – 24-hour hotline: 1-216-619-6192.

Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization (for queer and trans people) – Hotline: 1-866-86-BRAVO
