Wal-Mart to open golden door in Oberlin

Wal-Mart Corp. is bidding to build a store in Oberlin. The chain made its third proposal for an Oberlin site in March, generating extensive debate over the existence of a large-scale retailer in a community that prides itself on local business.

Parking concerns addressed

An e-mail survey from Interim Dean of Students Bill Stackman last week asked students to complete a brief survey concerning automobile use on campus. The survey is part of a larger effort to address parking woes expressed by members of the College and town communities alike.

Men’s lacrosse puts up wins

With an 11-4 win over Medaille College of Buffalo, N.Y., the men’s lacrosse team continued to roll this week, while first-year Ian Holljes picked up NCAC Player of the Week honors for his performance in a 2-1 spring break run.

Trumpeter Louis triumphantly returns to Oberlin

Kevin Louis graduated with a Bachelor of Music in jazz performance and later received a Masters of Arts from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in 2001. His visit was sponsored by the Black Musicians’ Guild and the Oberlin Conservatory.

Bunuel shares stories, advice

Fluent in French and Spanish and with a B.A. in English, alumnus Juan Luis Bunuel operates independently not only of studio, but of country as well. Bunuel became a second-generation exile at age two, when his father, director Luis Bunuel, was forced to leave Spain for Paris at the outbreak of civil war.
