Tuition increase approved

At its meeting this weekend, the Board of Trustees approved the lowest tuition increase to occur in years. The approval followed the support of the General Faculty Planning Committee.

According to Vice President of Finances Andy Evans, the Trustees approved that charges should increase by no more than 2.7 percent for the upcoming school year. Evans added that not all costs will increase by that much.

We are continuing to emphasize two major goals, Evans said. The first is to improve faculty salaries and become more comparable with peers at other institutions. The second is to increase financial aid.

Evans said that the budget and costs of those two items accordingly were increased the most.

Our goal was to keep the tuition increase as low as possible. We are very competitive with this increase, Evans said.
