The Educational Plans and Policies Committee (EPPC) approved the addition of a Concentration in the Cognitive Sciences at its meeting on Thursday. According to information from the EPPC,the concentration will prvovide specific study of the thought processes, mental representations, and information processing. The new concentration will also promote more interaction amongst students and faculty in that there will be more research opportunities that could prove beneficial for students pursuing graduate or professional school. Evident interest in the was shown at the college's recent symposium on the topic of "Animal Rights and Research." There is general interest in topics that provide insight on an intellectual context for discussion about the human condition.
