"My name is Big Texas and I'm the bomb."
| Junior captain of the men's soccer team Jon Wilson tied a 44-year-old Oberlin record by scoring five goals against Bluffton Saturday. His first four goals came in the first 25 minutes of play before he was taken out of the game because Oberlin had such a strong lead. Two other Oberlin players have scored five goals in one game, once in 1952 and once in 1954. In addition to being honored by the Review, Wilson was named NCAC player of the week. Wilson plays forward on the men's soccer team which won Saturday and lost Thursday. They play Mount Union Saturday and Lake Erie Wednesday. |

IN THE LOCKERROOM WITH...Jason Sokol
College senior Jason Sokol is the play by play announcer for the Oberlin Football team.
I spent years as a child honing my skills as a sports dork. The broadcast booth seemed the natural place to go after Jeremy Goldson's departure last year.
When I mention that my colorman Steve Manthe is losing his hair pigment things get pretty hectic.
Last Fall I predicted that Wittenberg would take it up the middle for a thirty yard rushing touchdown and they did.
It's an art to keep banter going. Normally I just do play-by-play and rely on my colormen.
No slip-up is that major because no one's listening.
It doesn't matter to me. I do it for my own enjoyment.
Free pizza at half-time.
The New York Giants. As for my favorite player, it would have to be Jason Seahorn as he is the obvious idol of all white athletes.
About as well as my 87 year-old Grandmother.
They play well in the first half because they've got talent. However, due to lack of sheer numbers, they tire easily.
