the rhino ruggers
the rhino ruggers

We are the ruggers, the mighty mighty ruggers: Oberlin's women's rugby team, the rhino ruggers, took on both Ohio Wesleyan and John Carroll University last weekend at home. Despite losing both matches the team did come together and play impressive rugby, even holding a lead against John Carroll for more than a half. Pictured at the far top, an Ohio Weslayan player tries to get the ball from sophomore Melissa Cardwell while other rhinos come in to support. Junior Vanya Hollis, easily the star of the games, comes in on the left. Hollis, who has played rugby for three years, scored her first two tries on Saturday against John Carroll. Pictured below, the team lines up for a cleat check before the game. Fans and family guests were in abundance to watch Saturday's games. The team has one more chance to prove that it can convert its spirit and skill to a win Saturday against the University of Dayton at home. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. on North Fields.
