Steven
Vu Le
I am Steven Le and I am declaring my candidacy for the office of
First Year Class President. I was President of my high school class
my junior and senior years and the duties of this position included
participating in school committee meetings, planning social functions
like the prom, proposing field trips that ranged from a Red Sox
game to a Blue Man Group performance and addressing my class each
term as well as during graduation. As great as experience may be,
the central question is, what can I do for you?
If you are looking for promises, I will offer none,
except that I will take on all the challenges that this office will
present, to the best of my ability and with the well-being of the
class as my guiding force. Good luck and thank you for your consideration.
Andrea
Leung
Greetings my fellow fresh Obies!
I want to be your leader. It is important that the Class of 2006
represents! We are a stellar group of people from all over the planet
who will leave a long lasting legacy at Oberlin College. Not to
mention, we will always keep things real. I'm tickled pink just
thinking about all the fun events I can help plan for us first years.
Count on me to finish everything I start. My commitment to being
dedicated and hard working help me to think critically, act quickly
and voice my opinions. I also recycle, hard core.
So far my achievements have been making friends
and finding classes I like. I'm involved with the water polo team,
writing for The Grape and hopefully student government. So go ahead
and
vote Andrea Leung (call me DRE) for President. Thanks, rock on!
Lizzie McAdam
Hello everyone! My name is Lizzie McAdam, and for four years in
high school I was the student Representative at Large for student
council. This meant that I helped students be heard. That is what
I want to help you do —be heard through your Oberlin student
senate. This is why you should vote for me: In high school, I was
the girl who loved to have fun, but would inevitably end up looking
out for my friends and taking care of them. I can promise I will
watch out for everyone by making sure your opinions are respected.
I am enthusiastic. I love to work. Please know that if I become
president, you can come talk to me. Find out who I am and stop me!
I will listen. Together, we can make this a fantastic year! Thank
you so much for your support and have a nice day!
Kelli Muse
In our whopping 18 days of being on this campus, I can already tell
that I love this school. Like all students at Oberlin, I have an
overwhelming desire to make a difference. Throughout this year I
plan on volunteering, playing lacrosse, working with SAST and Voices
for Christ as well as supporting various organizations on campus.
With that brief introduction, let’s get down to business.
How do I qualify? Well my leadership goes back to
being president of my high school band, a member of the minority
student achievement council and vice-president of my 8th grade class.
But in the grand scheme of new beginnings, this means nothing. Regardless
of what I’ve done, I’m assertive, honest and would genuinely
love to become a class officer. If this sounds like someone you
want to vote for, don’t fight that feeling! Vote for Kelli
Muse.
Umra
Omar
So this is where it all is. The land of opportunity and that of
the ever so free, The United States of America. Still feeling in
on that, I would love to introduce myself, that means going in to
the age issue, rather sensitive at my angle, so sticking to the
name intro, I’m Umra Omar.
My greatest interest here at Oberlin is to establish
some mutual communication frequently with my colleagues. We all
have our voices that need to be heard thus synchronized (mhhh…move
to equilibrium as Q equals K).
If I was to be intellectual I would quote some eminent
character; “I HAVE A DREAM.” That would be a lie though,
I don’t have a dream, Oberlin is just a pathway along which
I am creating many dreams, help out there, by sharing your ideas.
As the freshman body, we should incorporate our vibrant ideas from
and develop them into something solid. Via communication, all is
plausible.
Miranda
Pax
Though I am new to the Oberlin campus, just like the rest of you,
I am eager to get involved in campus life. As President I would
extend this involvement to the entire class through events to bring
new students together, thereby creating class unity. This is not
just another empty promise in a ploy to get elected, I would really
love to see the class come together and will work to make it happen.
My history as an officer in various student organizations will serve
me well in this position so that we can make the most out of our
first year here. So far on campus I have survived the start of classes,
smoothly transitioned to college life, joined intramural soccer,
and even made some good friends. I hope to have the opportunity
to make greater contributions to the Oberlin community by serving
the Class of 2006.
