Oct. 31, 5:30 a.m. Officers responded to an alarm at Mudd Library. The alarm was accidentally activated by custodial staff entering through a stairwell door.

Nov. 1, 10:56 a.m. A resident of East Hall reported vandalism in the North Quad area and basement of Burton Hall. A fire extinguisher was discharged in both areas. Custodial staff were notified for clean-up.

Nov. 1, 1:47 p.m. A staff member reported the theft of two computer speakers from her office in the Science Center. The computer speakers are white in color and approximately 6" x 4". Make and value are unknown.

Nov. 1, 10:11 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Langston Hall. The alarm was found to be activated by students smoking in their room.

Nov. 1, 11:17 p.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Lord, second floor. The alarm was found to be activated by a hair dryer.

Nov. 1, 11:28 a.m. A student reported the theft of his wallet from Philips Gym, men’s locker room. The wallet contained, $180.00 cash, credit cards, I.D., drivers license and misc. items.

Nov. 2nd, 1:37 a.m. A student reported a window was broken in Dascomb Hall lobby. A student leaned against the window and it broke. There were no injuries.
Nov. 2nd, 1:16 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Burton Hall. The basement area was found to be filled with what appeared to be smoke. Upon further investigation, it was learned two fire extinguishers were discharged. A custodian was contacted for clean-up.

Nov. 2, 4:47 p.m. A resident of Keep requested medical assistance after cutting his thumb while peeling a pear. The student was transported to Oberlin Medical Center.

Nov. 2, 9:53 p.m. A student reported the theft of her bicycle from the bike rack at East Hall. The bicycle is an older style women’s bike, bright blue in color with a U-lock under the seat. The bicycle is registered with the Bicycle Coop.

Nov. 2, 11:34 p.m. A supervisor on routine patrol of Asia House observed an injured student. The student said while at the Keep party, he and another student fell into a window. First Aid was administered for a head laceration. The student denied additional medical treatment at this time.

Nov. 3, 12:04 a.m. Officers were requested at Keep Co-op to assist with a student having problems breathing. The student was transported to Oberlin Medical Center by ambulance.

Nov. 3, 3:10 a.m. An officer on routine patrol of the New Science Center, observed five males vandalizing light poles in the area. The students were identified and advised the incident would be referred to the Dean’s Office.

Nov. 3, 3:24 a.m. Officers were requested to assist with an ill student, from alcohol consumption, at Keep. The student was transported to her dorm and friends agreed to stay with her during the night.


Nov. 4, 2:07 a.m. Officers and Oberlin Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on the first floor of Asia House. The alarm was found to be activated by dust in the detector. Alarms were reset with no further problems.


Nov. 4, 11:05 a.m. A student reported vandalism to her vehicle while it was parked in East Hall parking lot. The vehicle was "keyed" on the driver’s side door to the front of the left rear wheel well. The incident is under investigation.


Nov. 4, 2:25 p.m. A student reported the theft of her bicycle from outside of Harvey House. The bicycle is a Murry, 26", black in color, valued at $150.00. The bicycle was locked at the time of theft.


Nov. 4, 6:25 p.m. A student reported the theft of his bicycle from the south end of Bailey. The bicycle is a Marina, women’s, black in color, valued at $200.00. The bicycle is registered with the City.


Nov. 5, 3:46 a.m. Custodial staff reported a nitrogen tank leaking at the dock area of the Science Center. The tank valve was found partially open. The tank was finger tightened and the leak stopped.


Nov. 6, 4:59 p.m. A student reported the theft of her bicycle from the bike rack at Tank Hall. The bicycle is possibly a Huffy with Cypress on the top frame, men’s, bright blue in color. The bicycle is not registered.


Nov. 6, 10:39 p.m. Staff requested assistance with an injured subject who fell down the main stairs at Wilder Hall. The subject was transported to Oberlin Medical Center for treatment of his right ankle and hip.
