Guidelines
for Students
Finding
a Sponsor
Getting
advice and choosing a sponsor: A student should meet
with a potential sponsor in October or November. Early
contact is especially important for students planning an individual
project. A student's academic advisor may be a suitable sponsor
or may be able to suggest others. A student can also find
potential sponsors by looking in the Course
Catalog, where most Arts and Sciences departments list
the Winter Term interests of their faculty members. For students
interested in a career-related or community service Winter
Term project, advisors and numerous resources are available
to assist them in identifying opportunities
(see Winter Term Resources).
If a student proposing an individual project has difficulty
finding a sponsor, he or she should seek the aid of a department
chair or dean.
