Oberlin will celebrate its first Town-College Day on Saturday. In September, Oberlin was named the best college town in Ohio by Ohio Magazine.
A representative of the magazine will present Oberlin City Council Chair Fran Baumann and College President Nancy Dye with a plaque in a ceremony at the Clark Bandstand in Tappan Square. Throughout the day Saturday, there will be food and music as part of the celebration.
"It's a wonderful occasion to celebrate the union of town and gown that we so richly enjoyed for years," Al Moran, director of Communications and organizer of Town- College Day, said.
The celebration coincides with Family and Parents' Weekend and a number of College and community events.
