The Oberlin College Aikido Club, Oberlin Aikikai, celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special May Fair Seminar, May 1-4, 2014. This historic event brought over 140 participants from all over the country and featured Mitsugi Saotome Shihan, who after 26-year absence returned to Oberlin where he had his first seminar in 1976. In addition to Saotome Sensei, Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan, Chuck Weber Sensei, Wendy Whited Sensei, and Mike Lasky sensei (Oberlin alumnus) taught classes at the 4-day event. Oberlin Taiko gave a thunderous performance at the opening ceremony and the Saturday night party banquet featured two live bands from Oberlin Conservatory - ObieTalk and Don GK Brazilian Band.
