M. G. Dick
Involved in the Oberlin business community, Matthew Gray Dick proved an important member of the Oberlin community. Dick, elected vice president to the Oberlin Board of Commerce in 1895, ran a local grocery store in Oberlin and was much involved in commercial and political matters. Active in the Republican Party, Dick served for a short stint as mayor following the death of Alfred Fauver. Dick was appointed president of the Council in 1904, under Mayor O. F. Carter. After selling his grocery to his son, Frank J. Dick, in 1909, Dick remained an important member of the Oberlin community until his death in 1913.
