Only three months from the first of the weekly prayer meetings held in 1965 led by Pastor Dice of Wellington, this congregation was formed and a pastor was called to lead services held in the American Legion Building. Within a year this group of dedicated Christians had received recognition from the state of Ohio as a local church and had been duly recognized as a local New Testament Baptist Church with fellowship in the G.A.R.B.E., the O.A.R.B.C. and the Hebron Association. Within two years they not only had bought a house and lot as a church site but also were supporting a missionary. The present building was begun April, 1969 and dedicated June, 1970. In 1989 a parsonage was bought. They have known a steady continuous growth in size of congregation and extent of program, resulting in a need for more space. In 1995 an addition was built for an educational center, including a nursery and classrooms, and a new kitchen. Pastor and members of the congregation did much of the work inside and outside in the lighted parking lot.
The present pastor is Brian Kenyon. The church hymnal is Great Hymns of the Church. Favorite hymns are "How great Thou art"; "None but the blood"; "Teach me to pray"; and "Amazing Grace".
